I originally saw post on Facebook from the Drinking Bro's Nerds Group late last night. Poster claimed MSI was selling cards for more under satellite company name through major online retailers. I sat there and asked myself why would a multi-billion dollar company use a satellite company to scalp cards on Amazon, EBay, StockX, Warehouse, AliExpress, ect?
I'll be damn if I didn't do a quick search found the cards on Amazon, using the company name, MSI 3080 1999,99. For whatever dumb reason you just can't type in MSI RTX 3080 and pull it up.
Side Note: When shopping for 3080s on Amazon you actually have to go to the companies Amazon Page for whatever dumb reason typing in RTX 3080 only brings up the 10 and 20 series.
I then jumped over on EBay and within a few clicks find same listing, same pictures and descriptions for 2499.99.
Now I didn't spend a whole lot of time trying to research the company. I google the name, and the 4 or 5 links I clicked on redirected me to retailer sights that claimed to have cards (stockX and warehouse something) on hand double or triple the MSRP of said card or it just took me back to same amazon or Ebay page.
Again I refer back to my second statement. I've been around long enough and seen enough "ISIS" scam emails to chalk up, in the moment... as one of those "ISIS" scams. Give your money infidels and will send you nothing in return. Or just someone who got really crafty with bot purchase and put in a lot effort to make themselves look like something they are not. Either way I give chuckle out for effort followed by "Not Today ISIS, not today."
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turns out... 100% legit! Not only is true, JayzTwoCents called them out and did a video, along with every other major Tech Reviewer on YouTube. Further more it looks like MSI has probably been doing this since 2016 along with reselling refurbished products as new on Amazon, Ebay and other sites. MSI released a statement this afternoon and I will shorten it for you. We're sorry but not sorry, we're just sorry we got caught. And we fill a little guilty for you dumb ass that have overpaid for items over the years and it took you this long to call us on it. MSI stand by its products."
Mid tier employee fault my ass. You provide a product, in highly competitive field. You don't track what's going out, how much they paid. What's being return and why? Followed by and influx cash in the kitty because you have a "mid tier" employee selling shit using your companies name, shipping, billing department, double the price or reselling refurbished garbage for MSRP or if the product is demand and supplies are low, double the price? And you didn't know? MSI is Billion Dollar World Wide Corporations, if my dog shat on the carpet and stain looked like the MSI logo and I posted to the web, I'd be sued with in 45 seconds. Your telling us with your dumb ass statement, you had no clue a Mid Tier Employee is your name to scalp shit on major websites and you didn't know?
Not today, not tomorrow, MSI is out for me. I'll stick with my EVGA and ASUS products, with splash of Corsair.
Which begs the questions to all you MSI fans, when purchasing an MSI product online what did you pay for? New? Repackage but used? Extremely used to point of failure, RMA, refurbished, repackage and called new? (Hope you enjoyed your new box, plastic wrapping and instruction book.) It's got defects, so will sell through this store, and let them call it new?
